We see a branch of pitted, petrified wood. It is a Y shape. The wood is almost white, with deep dark holes all over it. It is sat on stony soil.

Some old tree stumps have gone black and shiny. Perhaps the cut edge was burnt to protect the wood. There are brown autumn leaves around.

We look up a tree trunk to see several fluffy spongy white mushrooms growing along it's length. The skey is grey. there are other winter trees in the background.

Tiny black mushrooms with white heads grow out of a log. We are very close up - these mushrooms are smaller than the blades of grass in the photo.

silver birch bark has peeled off of this tree revealing bright red bark underneath. the red contrasts with light blue green lichen.

This decaying log has gone red and orange, spongy, and sits in green grass. The sky is grey.

We look out, past the 8 rock-cut tombs at Heysham, to a flat grey blue sea and cloudy sky.
